There is plenty to do in summer in Abdet. The location of the village high in the mountains means you get beautiful fresh air and a pleasant breeze. The houses stay cool with their thick walls. The local pools are a great feature, at Confrides, Guadalest and Benimantell. For about 2.5 Euros a day you can stay as long as you want. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, it is rarely busy.
Abdet and Confrides have vibrant fiestas in August with free events such as bands, discos and local food.
Don't miss the great experience of night swimming at Guadalest. Pools are open mid June until the end of August (Guadalest until mid september)
The beautiful millpond at Abdet is a great place to have a dip, full of cold fresh spring water in an idyllic setting.
The Lake at Guadalest is good for experienced swimmers. Access from the dam (plenty of parking) and walk about 200 metres along the track leading from the dam. There is also a nice stream above the Lake. about 1km toward Abdet on the small rural road. The water is very cold but always flows as it is pumped out from under the mountains!
The Fonts De Algar are an amazing place to swim. You have to pay a small fee to enter but the water is cool and clear and a joy to swim in. Children love it. There is a lifeguard in the summer months so good for young children.
The beaches at Benidorm, Altea, Albir, and Calpe are clean and easy to get to. You can also hire boats and canoes and learn how to scuba dive, all for a reasonable price.
If you have had enough of activities try the Old Town in Altea. Narrow streets lead to the square where there are superb restaurants and ice creams!
For children there are also several theme parks and water parks which are great value.
